About AQTR

The Organizing Committee has the pleasure of inviting you to participate in the IEEE International Conference on Automation, Quality and Testing, Robotics, AQTR 2022 (THETA 23), which will be held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, on May 19-21, 2022. The conference follows the tradition of the 22 automation and testing-related scientific events, organized in Cluj-Napoca since 1981 under the name THETA/AQTR.

AQTR 2022 is an international forum for researchers in the field of automation, quality, testing and robotics. It will bring together researchers, equipment manufacturers, software developers and end-users to discuss the current trends and future directions of control and testing technologies and their industrial and social applications in the private and the public sectors. Active participation of students and graduate students is strongly encouraged.

Accepted full papers (oral presentation) will be included in IEEE Xplore and submitted for Clarivate (former ISI) indexing (all editions since 2006 are indexed in ISI Web of Science). Additionally, the authors of the best papers will be invited to contribute their research to special issues of MDPI Sensors and MDPI Mathematics.

Reaching Cluj Napoca

Due to its location (equal distance between two East-European capitals, Bucharest and Budapest) and its economic situation, Cluj-Napoca is easy to reach by different means of transport:

By plane

Cluj-Napoca International Airport, located at 8 km from the city center, offers direct, regular flights to many domestic and international destinations and returns.

Cluj-Napoca International Airport is linked with the city center:

Other options for those who do not have direct flights to/from Cluj-Napoca International Airport are offered by the Bucharest and Budapest international airports, the links between these European capitals and Cluj-Napoca being made by plane, by train, by car or by bus.

By train

Cluj-Napoca railway station, located close to the city center, offers direct train connections with several European capitals. CFR webpage.

By car and long distance bus

Cluj-Napoca is linked with the capital Bucharest through the following main routes:

Cluj-Napoca is linked with Budapest through highway M3 and European routes E79 and E60 (483 km).

Cluj-Napoca "BETA" long distance bus station, located near the railway station, offers direct bus connections with Bucharest and Budapest.

BlaBlaCar and other long distance ride sharing services are also available.

Lodging

We do not have exclusive hotel offers for this edition, but there are plenty of accomodation possibilities around the conference sites. Please note that we did not verify these places.

Special sessions

Special session proposals are welcome and can be submitted to the Special Session Chair via email: Cristina.Muresan@aut.utcluj.ro.

Special sessions consist of at least 5 or more papers presenting a unified topic, should have at most 3 co-organizers, preferably from different organisations. Each (co-)organizer may be the (co-)author of at most one paper in their special session.

Proposals for special sessions must detail the motivation and relevance of the session and should include a list of 6 potential contributions, including manuscript title and prospective authors. All papers submitted to a special session will undergo the peer review process as other manuscripts.

In the event that the special session does not collect at least 5 papers, the accepted papers will be considered as regular papers.

Current Special sessions:

Transdisciplinary approaches in emerging engineering problems
Organized by Prof. Habil. Levente Kovacs, Prof. Habil. Eva Dulf, Dr. Ioana Nascu.

Mechatronics and Industry 4.0
Organized by Sergiu Dan Stan, Milos Simonovic, Milos Manic.
